Alaska Airlines wanted to capitalize on brand awareness while there was a captive audience during the 2010 Winter Olympics. The only problem was, it wasn't a sponsor.
We worked in partnership with parent agency WDCW to develop an integrated marketing campaign featuring speed skater Apolo Ohno. The campaign, Follow Apolo, led traffic to the destination site we created. Followapolo.com gave users exclusive content and an inside look into the Olympian's life while simultaneously promoting Alaska Airlines.
The campaign resulted in dominating 55 percent of online buzz compared to United Airlines, the official Olympic sponsor.
