As Seen On: WSJ.com - Emily Steel reported the story, “Luring New Shoppers With New Technology” calling it “Minority Report comes to life”!
The Digital StoreFront project, a.k.a. “Interactive Glass”, was developed by United Future as a prototype for a touch-screen retail shopping experience. UF created this featured piece inside the IPG Media Lab in Los Angeles in order to showcase a “Retail 3.0” In-Store experience. The Flash-based application provides a dynamic experience for a shopper to browse and virtually “try on” different clothing items and combinations using a simple touch-screen interface.
The application was deployed in two ways:
Both presentations feature touch-screen technology that enables direct user interaction with the software interface. The ease of use and strong immersive impact of the application encourages high shopper engagement and exploratory “play” — or, in digital media terms: “stickiness” and “time on site.” In everyday terms, it’s just fun!
The Wall Street Journal featured the project in a print article on August 26, 2010, and on their online News Hub segment, which focuses on technology.
